Nagqu strengthens forest & grass resources supervision

Since this year, Bureau of Forestry and Grassland of Nagqu City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has been focusing on protecting local rare forest and grass ecological resources based on its actual situation, which have achieved remarkable results in systematic supervision.

The city's Bureau of Forestry and Grassland has actively cooperated with Bureau of Natural Resources and completed verification and certification work of 1.4128 km² collective forest land, organized and carried out training forpublic welfare forest rangers to supervise their daily patrol workand effectively protect ecological public welfare forest, and invested 12 million as well as 9.2 million yuan RMB respectively in the high-risk forest fire prevention projects of Lhari County and Biru County, so as to improve basic support capacity of forest fire prevention.

Nagchu Bureau of Forestry and Grassland has established a target responsibility system for wetland protection and development, and implemented ecological benefit compensation fund of Serling Co Wetland with an investment of 15 million yuan RMB; it has also invested 99 million yuan RMB to implement wetland restoration project of Mitika National Nature Reserve. Besides, the bureau actively cooperated with Bureau of Forestry and Grassland of Tibet Autonomous Region to identify important wetlands and strive to increase total wetland area.
