Lhalu Wetland at the northwest of Lhasa City, capital of China's Tibet Autonomous Region, is known as "the lung of Lhasa". As a national natural reserve with a total area of 12.2 km², 95% of it is covered by swamp meadow vegetation. Its warm climate and lush aquatic plants attract about 5,000 wild birds of 20 species inhabiting here throughout the year, including black-necked cranes, bar-headed geese, larks, skylarks, etc. [Photos/Zhao Mengru, Tenzin Sheten]
