Quxu County: farmers and herdsmen start up business by handicraft

"Siji Crowd-innovation Space is established in August 2018. It mainly provides innovative and entrepreneurial platforms and services for farmers and herdsmen's cooperatives, poor households of Siji Jixiang Village, youth entrepreneurs and college graduates in Quxu County of Lhasa City, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. At present, 10 cooperatives and 6 companies have entered into the space. According to different functions, the whole space is divided into different office areas, and each project has its own separate office area." Says Kangsa Konchog, one of the founders of Tibet Innovation & Venture Capital Management Company Limited.

Kangsa Konchog says, "The space has been created into a new-type modern incubator integrating intangible cultural heritage incubation, accelerated incubation and mentor incubation. It insists government guidance and market-oriented operation, matches self-service functional areas, as well as provides one-stop commercial services for the companies, such as investment promotion and the capital introduction, policy advisory and legal advice."

Professional painter Norbu Tsering says, "I am a villager of Siji Jixiang Village. At first, there're only 6 members in our team. The team entering into the space has greatly increased the participation of villagers; we also enroll some apprentices from the village now." With perfect office facilities, trademark design, sales docking and others, more poor households have found jobs through this platform.

28-year-old Sonam Tsering introduces that, he used to work in Lhasa City, which is very inconvenient because of being far from home. After the establishment of the space, he has found jobs and increased his income in his own village relying on his craftsmanship. The space also helps him and other villagers publicize and promote local products, contact fabric suppliers, invite professional mentors to teach them skills, expand sales channels and so on.
