In recent years, Qamdo City of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has worked hard to advance the poverty alleviation through e-commerce, according to Qamgdo's commerce bureau. The promotion of e-commerce in rural areas brings a significant increase of income for local impoverished people.

Baxoi, Markam and Banbar Counties of Qamdo have been inscribed in the list of demonstration counties of e-commerce since 2015. Now, there are 3 county-level e-commerce public service centers, 5 O2O exhibition centers, 3 county-level e-commerce logistics distribution centers, 24 town-level public service centers and 116 village-level e-commerce public service stations. A total of 115 trainings of rural e-commerce have been organized, which have trained 3,609 people. The volume of e-commerce business reached 10.05 million yuan RMB.

Thanks to the e-commerce platform, the city has sold more than 20,000 pieces of agricultural products, lifting over 900 impoverished people out of poverty and encouraging 86 poor people to start business, which has witnessed a great progress in poverty alleviation through e-commerce.
