Key projects promote Tibet’s economic and social development

In recent years, triumphant news keeps pouring in the field of key  construction projects in Tibet. For example, Lalho key water control project operated successfully. Galai Mountain Tunnel and Yajiangte Bridge opened to traffic. High grade highways achieved the zero breakthrough. Lhasa-Shigatse Railway was built and put into operation. Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway was under comprehensive construction. The reconstruction and expansion projects of Konggar, Mainling and Bangda airports were carried out smoothly.

In the requirements of the party committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, Tibet Development and Reform Commission positively strives for national investment and innovates investment and financing mode. During the 12th Five Year Plan, a social-fixed-asset investment of 464.2 billion yuan was implemented, aggregating 1.8 times greater than that of the 11th Five Year Plan, according to Phurbu Tsering, deputy of the 9th Tibet Autonomous Regional Congress of the CPC, deputy secretary and director of the party leadership group of Tibet Development and Reform Commission.

During the 12th Five Year Plan period, 236 key projects were arranged in Tibet, which played an important role in supporting Tibet's economic and social development. During the 13th Five Year Plan, Tibet will carry out a batch of key projects in the field of energy, transportation, water conservancy, communication, township infrastructure construction and son on, with the aim of making up the short board of building a moderately prosperous society and forming a strong support for economic and social development.

Lhasa ring road is one of the 12 important highway construction projects that are being built this year. Its main part is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.

This year, Tibet Communications Department has implemented national investment and bank loans of 54.578 billion yuan. It is expected to complete the transportation investment of fixed assets for 40.2 billion yuan, increasing 90.7% year on year. The highway traffic mileage is expected to reach 82000 kilometers, ushering in a good start.

During the 13th Five Year Plan, Tibet plans to invest 238.8 billion yuan in transportation construction. A series of highway projects will be carried out to promote economic development and lead people to get rich.
