Recently, the 2021 Conference on Tibet Tourism Work was held in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The meeting concluded tourism achievements of both the 13th Five-Year Plan period and the year of 2020, and made plans for the development of tourism industry in the 14th Five-Year Plan, aiming to facilitate the recovery and high-quality growth of regional tourism.

According to the conference, Tibet is expected to receive 61 million tourists by the end of 14th Five-Year Plan, realizing 64 billion yuan RMB in tourism revenue. A total of 600,000 people will be engaged in tourism. This year, the number of tourists will reach 42 million, which will bring an income of 44 billion yuan RMB.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Tibet will focus on the building of tourism projects, such as Lhasa international tourism and culture city, Nyingchi international ecotourism demonstration zone, China-Nepal culture and tourism park and all-for-one tourism demonstration zone. By the end of 2025, the region will add more scenic spots, holiday resorts and tourism demonstration cities and counties.

Next, the city will focus on rural revitalization, involving the building of 20 tourism towns with local characteristics, 70 national key rural tourism villages and national border tourism demonstration villages, and 400 tour spots with reception abilities. In addition, it will make great efforts to improve tourism infrastructures, such as reception centers, parking lots and public toilets.
