Dranang Village is located in Bultok Town of Zogang County, Qamdo City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. There are 324 people from 53 households in the whole village. The economic income of the village mainly comes from forest resources and cultivated land, and the annual per capita income is only about 3,000 yuan RMB.

On April 4, 2019, a hollow brick factory was built in Dranang Village, opening a new way for local people to get rich.

Zharao, party branch secretary of Dranang Village, says that the hollow brick factory is a sub-industry of the Dranang Farmers and Herdsmen's Specialized Cooperative, which has been established in 2013. Due to lack of funds and technology, it has been basically in a state of shutdown. With the implementation of the targeted poverty alleviation policy, people's consciousness is gradually changing. In March 2019, with a starting fund of 150,000 yuan RMB raised by the masses and 100,500 yuan RMB supported by municipal and township government, Zharao Village took the lead in the reform of the cooperative, and set up three sub-industries: hollow brick factory, buckwheat processing plant, and construction team of farmers and herdsmen.

With two machines operating for over three months in the hollow brick factory, more than 200,000 bricks are produced, achieving an income of more than 30,000 yuan RMB.

"Not only can I learn skills in the brick factory, but I can also earn 120 yuan RMB a day," says Jampa Dorje who is a registered poor household in Dranang Village. By the middle of July, the per capita income of the cooperative members is expected to reach 6,000 yuan RMB.

In addition to being used by local people, the hollow bricks produced by Dranang Village are also sold to Tsawarong Town of Zayul County, Nyingchi City, having good sales channels.

"50% of the income of the brick factory will be used to pay dividends at the end of this year, 40% will be used to expand production, and the other 10% will be used for social welfare. At the end of this year, a small excavator will be added..." Says Zharao, whose face is full of hope for a better life in the future.
