Strolling through Nanshan Park on the south bank of the Lhasa River, Lhasa City, China's Xizang Autonomous Region, feels like being in Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River). But just 10 years ago, there were only gray and black here—the colors of the exposed mountains and soil layers. Since the launch of the Nanshan afforestation and greening project in 2012, Lhasa people have overcome many difficulties such as water diversion, electricity consumption, tree species selection, and funds finding. They have planted 3,521.7 mu (2,347,800㎡) of afforestation, with more than 100 species of various seedlings such as cedar, spruce, pine, and white pine, with a survival rate of over 85%.#Lhasa
