Nyingchi Kongpo Losar New Year, the earliest one of Tibet, is celebrated on Nov. 12 (Oct. 1 on Tibetan calendar) this year. 

Kongpo area covers Nyingchi County, Mainling County and Gongbo Gyamda County surroundings in Nyingchi City.

Nyingchi Kongpo Losar New Year is mainly the area’s festival, which begins on Oct. 1 of Tibetan calendar every year.

During the festival, local people participate in various activities with beautiful traditional costumes, such as dancing, singing and sending New Year’s wishes each other and so on.

Besiedes, they also celebrate the festival in their traditional way including “banquet for dogs”, religious offerings, changing prayer flags, expelling the evil spirit and others.
