June 16 is the day of World Day to combat desertification. Wetland of Nyangchu River, a region-level nature reserve, is the home to the black-necked crane and jute duck. The protection scope of wetland of Nyangchu River has been included in Shigatse's 13th-Five Year Plan. The municipal government has implemented a series of measures to protect the wetland, such as building wetland observatory, planting trees and setting fences.
