As the Chinese Lunar New Year -- Spring Festival and the traditional Tibetan New Year -- Losar are drawing near, Lhasa citizens are busy purchasing and making “Kapse". “Kap” means “Mouth” and “Se” means “Eating” in Tibetan language. It is a Tibetan-style sweet snack that is essential for guests during the Tibetan New Year. People can fry “Kapse”in various shapes like ear, butterfly, strip-type, square, and roundness. For Tibetan people, “Kapse”has its own special cultural significance which symbolizes diligence, wisdom, enthusiasm, and auspiciousness in Tibet. [Jia Dan, He Huizhong]
