2019 China Lhasa Shoton Festival, bearing the theme of "Happy China Shoton, Beautiful Lhasa", will be held from Aug. 30 to Sep. 5 in Lhasa City, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, according to 2019 China Lhasa Shoton Festival Press Conference. Through the mode of "Culture + Sport + Tourism", Shoton Festival focuses on the cultivation of Lhasa's festival economy, and shows the city's history, culture, folk custom and economy in an all-round way. 

Yang Nianhua, deputy secretary-general of Lhasa Municipal People's Government, says that nine activities will be organized during the 2019 Shoton Festival, such as 13th Lhasa Namtso Trekking Contest, Unfolding of Buddha Paintings, Horse Performance, Tibetan Opera performance, Opening Ceremony of Shoton Festival, Tibetan Costume Exhibition and others. Currently, the preparation work of Shoton Festival goes on well.

On the basis of traditional activities, Tibetan Costume Exhibition and Tibetan Chess Performance are added, aiming at showing the unique charm of Tibetan culture to tourists from home and abroad. Besides, the opening ceremony of Shoton Festival is divided into four chapters with different themes, realizing innovation in its form and content, which is closer to local people's daily life and shows stronger sense of celebration and artistry.
