On Dec. 4, the "Qinghai-Tibet green post houses" project that was put forward by a folk environmental protection community in Sichuan Province shortlisted the20 environmental protection projects with the theme of "toward to ecological civilization, hail to the vanguard of environmental protection", which were public welfare programs.

To recycle and manage garbages along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, 18 green post houses will be built. In addition, long-distance truck drivers and self-driving tourists can have a short rest in the post houses. Here, services including hot water, free WiFi, battery charging and toilets are provided. What's more, propagandas on ecological resources and environmental protection can be carried out at the same time. This year, 8 green post houses have started construction in Qinghai Province and they are expected to be put into use next year. The other 10 post houses are located in Tibet Autonomous Region.

Empty return vehicles running along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway can transport garbages to Golmud City for concentrated disposal. Biodegradable garbages are transported to nearby refuse landfills.

In addition, volunteers also play an important role in protecting the environment along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway.
