Renqing Gang: a beautiful eco-village

Renqing Gang Village of Shigatse, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, with an area of 579.7km², is a tourist attraction famous for its unique natural scenery with endless green terrain and wide vision, peasant households.

Villagers have attached great importance to the protection of forest resources, and patrolled from morning to night to prevent fires and protect the forest environment. Up to now, the village's forest area has exceeded 63,000 mu (about 42 km²), shrubbery area has approached 22,000 mu (about 14.7km²), and the forest coverage rate has reached 91.41%, which has truly realized the goal: a eco-village with clean water and green mountains.

Since the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet, local villagers’ living standards have been gradually improved. Relying on excellent ecological environment, the village has vigorously developed flower industry with using unique soil to increase local villagers’ income. Especially, planting Rainbow Flower has become a characteristic and potential project, which has helped the village achieving fine effect in poverty alleviation.

At present, the per capita annual net income has approximated 15,000 yuan (about 2,175 US dollars), which has greatly promoted the prosperity and development of the plateau ecological village.
