It is reported that on Nov. 17, Lhasa Sports Center, Beijing’s main projects of aiding Tibet, is awarded “Luban Awards” that is the highest honor in China’s construction industry.

With an investment of 760 million yuan, Lhasa Sports Center is the largest project aided by Beijing in the last 20 years. At the beginning of the construction, this project is based on the requirements of “Luban Awards”. This is the first individual building on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Therefore, there were many difficulties in its design, construction, purchase of materials and equipment and other sides. 

Lhasa Sports Center, located in Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, was constructed on Jun. 3, 2012. Lasting two years, this single building was completed and put into service on Sep. 2014, which is the first large-scale comprehensive sports center. Currently, this sports center has become the landmark building covering various functions such as sports competitions, cultural activities and entertainments. CBA’ s Tour to Lhasa, Lhasa Basketball League and other activities were held in Lhasa Sports Center.
