Lake Manasarovar is located in Purang County, Ngari Prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region, China. It lies 4,588 meters above sea level and covers 412 square kilometers, making it the largest and highest freshwater lake in China. The lake has long been known as a sacred lake as it is an important place for Buddhism, Hinduism and other religions.
