Lhasa handled a record ten million visitors this year

It is reported from Xinhua on Dec 6th that with the development of tourism in Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, Lhasa have handled a record ten million visitors so far this year, generating over 15 billion yuan in tourism revenue.

According to Lhasa Municipal Government, in the past ten months. Lhasa have welcomed 11.59 million tourists from both home and abroad, up 11.71 percent year-on-year. The overall tourism revenue of the past ten months have reached 1.52 million yuan, a 38.16 percent rise on the same period of 2014.

In 2015, various activities and festivals such as the play “ Princess Wencheng”, Tibet Tourism and Culture Expo are held in Lhasa, which become the promotion for attracting many tourists from home and abroad to travel to Lhasa.

Winter is the low season for tourism in Lhasa. The Potala Palace is not limited the number of visitors. Besides, tickets to Tibet is not in short supply. Sometimes, the air tickets are given discount. In addition, scenic spots and hotels provide the preferential policies.
