Starting from January 10 of 2016, there will have a change in times of trains at Lhasa Railway Station and some stops.
K177/8 train from Zhengzhou to Xining is added. K1009/10 train, originally from Xining to Xian, will be expanded to the east of Dongguan. The number of K1009/10 train is replaced by K1310/11 and K1312/09.
The direct express from Lhasa to Chengdu will stop at Guangyuan Station instead of the south of Guangyuan Station. Amdo stop will be added in Z6812/1 direct express from Lhasa to Xining. Z8801/2 train from Lhasa to Shigatse will not stop at Sherong Station.
After changes, the direct express from Lhasa to Shanghai will divided into two parts-Lhasa to Xining and Xining to Shanghai. Passengers need to transfer the train at Xining Station.
The times of T24 train and T224 train will be changed to 11:05 a.m., ahead of 40 minutes than before. However, the arrival time is not changed.
The time of Z166 direct express to Shanghai will be changed to 11:35 a.m., 35 minutes earlier than before. The time of Z266 direct express to Guangzhou is changed to 1:00 p.m. The arrival times of those trains do not have changes.
The times of Z6802 train and Z918 train is changed to 9:40 a.m., ahead of 5 minutes.
The time of Z22 direct express to Beijing is not be changed. It is still at 3:30 p.m. The time of Z8801 direct express to Shigatse is also not changed.
As coming of the Spring Festival, the volume of passenger traffic is increasing. Beginning from December, about 3,300 journeys is made at Lhasa Railway Station each day. Most of the passengers are migrant workers returning home for Spring Festival, a few students and tourists.
Tickets demands will far exceed supply during the period. It is advisable to make an early reservation if you plan to travel by rail. Passengers can buy train tickets on line.
