Following the idea of environmental conservation, Nyingchi strives to build the eco-civilization demonstration zone and explores the new mode for constructing eco-civilization during development, according to the Development and Reform Committee of Nyingchi.

With an average altitude of 3,100 meters, Nyingchi, located in the southeast of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, is also called “Jiangnan in Tibet”. Boasting a temperate climate and rich ecological resources, Nyingchi continuously sticks to the philosophy of green development and focuses on building a beautiful homeland in recent years. Nyingchi will firmly stay committed to pursuing the development of economy and a sound ecosystem.

Through great efforts, the ecology index of Nyingchi becomes better gradually. According to data, per capita public green area of 9.5 square meters, forest coverage of 52.95% and grassland vegetation coverage of 70% present the great improvement of Nyingchi’s ecology. Bayi District and Kongpo Gyamda County are listed as regional ecological counties (districts). 38 towns and villages are awarded as regional ecological villages and towns. 316 administrative villages are rated as national ecological villages. Nyingchi will still accelerate the construction of ecological demonstration zone.
