The 14th Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival, themed as "meeting in Nyingchi, looking for the most beautiful spring", kicks off in Gala Village, Nyingchi of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, on March 23. The Gala Valley, designated as the main venue for the 2016 Peach Blossom Cultural & Tourism Festival.

The peach blossom festival is celebrated annually since 2003. Tourists have a chance to enjoy the picturesque scenery of Nyingchi that is known as “The Swiss of Tibet” as well as enjoy various traditional Tibetan customs.

The opening ceremony of the 14th Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival is held at 10 a.m. of this morning in Gala Village of Bayi District, Nyingchi of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.  

It is reported that there are a lot of wonderful performances on the opening ceremony. Besides, the artistic performance of Tibet’s Zhang Zhung Culture will be held in in Gala Village of Bayi District on March 24, providing a good opportunity for knowing the unique and original ethnic culture of Nagri. Within the next days until the end of April, a series of competitions will happen continuously, such as photography competition and traditional Tibetan sports.

In addition to the above activities, tourists can also visit famous tourist attractions, such as Lulang Forest, Basumtso Lake and Mt. Namche Barwa. They can enjoy the local special cuisine and experience the local customs.
