14 mountaineers plan to climb Mt. Qomolangma, the world's tallest mountain, from the north slope of Mt. Qomolangma.
These mountaineers will start off from Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, on Apr. 11 to Mt. Qomolangma Base Camp located in Dingri County of Shigatse, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
Last year, because of an 8.1-magnitude quake hit in Nepal, no one reached the top of Mt. Qomolangma from both south and north slopes.
2016 Tibet's spring climbing activity has already begun and lasts to June. There will be hundreds of climbers from both home and abroad attempting peaks that are at an altitude of more than 8,000 meters.
Tibet boasts rich mountain resources among which there are five mountains including Mt. Qomolangma at an altitude of over 8,000 meters.
