As tourism peak season approaches, the number of tourists taking trains to Tibet is increasing rapidly. Lhasa Railway Station handles 10,000 a day on average, among which the number of passengers to Tibet is more than 5,000.
According to Lhasa Railway Station, a temporary train Z6812 will be added from June 26 to August 29 in order to meet the demand of a large number of passengers. This train departs from Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, to Xining, capital of Qinghai Province. Starting from next month, train tickets from Tibet to other places will be in short supply because of the coming of summer vacation travel rush. It is advisable for passengers to plan their journeys more earlier and make an reservation in advance.
Based on the flow of passengers, Qinghai-Tibet Railway company will add Z6811 from Xining to Lhasa and Z6812 from Lhasa to Xining. Z6811 will depart from Xining at 8:15 p.m. and arrive in Lhasa at 6:18 p.m. next day. Z6812 will depart from Lhasa at 4:15 p.m. and arrive in Xining at 9:55 p.m. next day.
Train tickets are available 60 days in advance online or by telephone, 58 days ahead of departure date at railway stations and designated ticket offices that begin to sell tickets at 10 o'clock a.m. every day.
