1,300 years ago, Princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty got married with Tubo King Songtsan Gampo. Princess Wencheng brought the advanced cultivation of Central Plains and boosted the economic development of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. After 1,300 years, a large-scale live-action musical “Princess Wencheng” is performed in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Till this April, this play has been performed for three years, which brings social and economic benefits for Tsechokling Village of Lhasa's Tselgungthang Town.

Tenzin Kalzang, party branch secretary of Tsechokling Village, said, “ At present, there are 310 households and over 1,000 people in our village. Among them, more than 250 villagers play as amateur actresses in “Princess Wencheng”. Every actor can earn over 3,000 yuan (456 U.S. dollars) on average.”

More than 1,000 actors play in “Princess Wencheng”, among whom there are only about ten professional actors, the others are amateur. In addition to local villagers, yaks and sheep all become actors. Lhamo, a local villager, owns more than 40 sheep that are used in “Princess Wencheng” for presenting the scene of numerous livestocks during the period of Tubo. These 40 sheep can bring her more than 5,000 yuan (760 U.S. dollars) a month, which is unbelievable in the past.

Moreover, many people from other places of China went here and opened lots of stores such as restaurants, library stores and tourist souvenir stores, which are learned by the local villagers. Most of the young take part in different kinds of trainings and become drivers, chefs, tour guides and hotel managers.
