China's highest hiking festival to kick off at Qomolangma base camp

First hiking festival, the highest hiking festival in China, will kick off on July 15 at Qomolangma Base Camp with an altitude of 5,200 meters.

With overall length of more than 10 kilometers, the hiking starts from base camp. Over 50 tourists and cadres will take part in the event, according to Wang Xudong, duputy County Chief of Dingri County in Tibet, the seat of Qomolangma Base Camp.

Because of high elevation, the organizing committee will allocate doctors in company with the hikers.

Mount Qomolangma, also known as Everest, is the world’s highest peak.
