Lhasa Jingtu, Tibet's first professional basketball club, was established in regional capital Lhasa, 3,658 meters above sea level, making it the world's highest basketball club. Because of the high altitude, oxygen matters in the basketball game at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. That harsh environment cannot stop Tibetan, a ethnic minority loving sports, from playing basketball.
Since it was formed in February 2015, Lhasa Jingtu has participated in 2015 season and 2016 season of China's National Basketball League (NBL) and achieved good grades.
In 2016, the Tibetan team took part in China Amateur Athletic Union (CAAU) and ranked the fifth.
