Recent years have witnessed Tibetan culture industry's rapid development. With the improvement of culture industry's overall strength, its market competitiveness increases gradually. By the end of 2015, the number of registered culture companies in Tibet reached 4,680, with 32,000 employees. Tibetan culture industry develops dynamically with more channels and levels.
As Thangka artworks are favored by more and more people, Tibet's Thangka industry is on the upswing. "Guidelines for Tibet's Thangka Industry's Development" has been put forward to introduce Thangka industrial park, Thangka companies, Thangka market system, cultivation of Thangka artists and Thankga brand building.
Local standard system for Tibet's Thangka has been launched, aiming at setting up a standard, authoritative and systematic Thangka standard system. Furthermore, Tibet Thangka Art Fair organized by the government will be held.
According to incomplete statistics, over 2,000 people were employed in Tibet's Thangka industry. Most of the population is born after 1970 and 1980. The output value of Thangka industry has exceeded 100 million yuan (145,391 U.S. dollars) so far.
Thangka art, a representative of state-level intangible culture heritage, is one of Tibet's excellent traditional culture arts. In recent years, Tibet's intangible culture heritage has achieved great improvement in protection, inheritance, development and reasonable utilization. With the rapid development of Tibet's tourism industry, Thangka becomes popular with its unique cultural art value and abundant ethnic culture connotation.
In addition, thanks to the development of "Internet+", with the e-commerce platform, Thangka's influence and competitiveness obtain great enhancement.
