6th Tibet Thangka Art Fair to be held on Dec. 23

The 6th Tibet Thangka Art Fair co-hosted by Department of Culture of Tibet Autonomous Region and Intangible Culture Heritage Protection Center of Tibet Autonomous Region will kick off on Dec. 23. It aims to strengthen the inheritance and development of Tibet's excellent traditional culture and further explore the blossom of Thangka industry.

This art fair will accelerate the construction of an important Chinese ethnic culture protection site and implement the traditional handicraft revival plan. The culture industry will play an essential part in the construction of “One Belt, One Road” and the China-South Asia Continental Passage by the development of Thangka industry. The 2016 Tibe Thangka Art Fair consists of seven parts including opening ceremony, excellent Thangka art exhibition, launch of Local standard system for Tibet's Thangka, Thangka art development seminar and closing ceremony.

The excellent Thangka art exhibition will be held at Shatra House in Lhasa, capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, from Dec. 23 to 25. The exhibit features about 119 pieces of Thangka artworks.
