According to the Civil Aviation Administration's Tibet Branch, the Spring Festival travel rush has hit Tibet's airports from Jan 13 to 20. With total flights reaching 830, Tibet's five airports (Lhasa Gonggar Airport, Shigatse Peace Airport, Nyingchi Menling Airport, Chamdo Bangda Airport and Nagri Gunsa Airport) saw 83,998 passengers and 687.5 tons of cargo and mail, increases of 33.9 percent, 47.9 percent and 26.3 percent respectively. During the busy time, multiple measures have been taken to beef up security checks and new flights have also been added.
