The first Tibet's Tibetan carpet industry expo supported by the Culture Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region kicks off on Feb 10. More than 1,500 Tibetan carpets are on show. This 10-day exposition aims to display Tibetan carpet's culture, promoting the business on Tibetan carpets and improving Tibetan carpet's craft technology. Tibetan carpets except carpets with hundreds of years will be sold at half price.

Tibetan carpet is called "Zhongsi" in Tibetan language. With unique craft and Tibetan pattern, Tibetan carpet is one of three world famous carpets.

Tibetan carpet boasts a lot of traditional crafts in terms of pattern, painting, picture and weave. It is used in various products including rugs, curtains and saddle pads. With the development of society, a batch of Tibetan cultural companies dealing with Tibetan carpets emerge and sell the products to the outside of Tibet, which becomes an important force for promoting Tibetan carpet's culture.

Gangqing, director of the Culture Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region, said that Tibet Tibetan carpet industry expo aims to show Tibetan carpet's culture, promoting the business on Tibetan carpets and improving Tibetan carpet's craft technology.

Thanks to the prosperous development of cultural industry, Tibetan carpet, a part of Tibetan culture, needs a platform to display. At the moment, the construction of Tibet's first Tibetan carpet museum has been planned.
