According to the Lhasa Tourism Bureau, in the first quarter of this year, Lhasa accumulatively received 660000 tourists and realized a tourism revenue of 929 million yuan.
In the first quarter, Lhasa's tourism market was active and stable. The tourist reception volume increased greatly. Statistics showed that the reception capability of star-rated hotels and travel agencies were all improved than last year.
In the first quarter, Lhasa has many festivals and holidays. Tourists reception volume and tourism revenue were all greatly improved than last year. Only during the Spring Festival and Tibetan New Year period, the tourism revenue reached 180 million yuan and 258 million yuan respectively. Tourists traveled mainly in the way of self-tour and group-travel. The tour routes were mainly centered around Lhasa City, Damxung County and Nyingchi City.
This year, in order to attract more tourists, Lhasa's tourism industry will hold a series of characteristic and sensational festival activities. Recently, as Lhasa's tourism industry gradually enters peak season, more and more travel agencies begin to regist “green channel” in Lhasa Tourism Bureau.
Next, by closely combining with local tourism market's actual situations, Lhasa City will change promotional ideas and give full play to the mediation role of newspaper, network and television, so as to guide people to have a right understanding of Tibet's high-altitude and awful weather, eliminate tourists' worries, and attract more people to travel to Tibet.
