The initiative of "winter tours in Tibet－enjoy the world's third pole" in Tibet attracts a growing number of tourists. Over the past three months, Tibet has witnessed more than 1.06 million tourists, an increase of 49.5 percent compared with the same period last year. 

The activity of "winter tours in Tibet－enjoy the world's third pole" has been started from Feb 1. Echoing for this initiative, preferential policies covering tourists attractions, accommodation and transportation were carried out. A-class scenic spots in the region open to visitors for free. 

From January to March, Tibet has received 3,986 tourists from abroad, a year-on-year increase of 37.5 percent. During the same period, about 1.06 million domestic visitors travel to Tibet, up 49.5 percent over the previous year, according to the regional Development and Reform Commission.

"During the Spring Festival, one-day tour line was popular," said Sun Henan, who boasts six-year marketing experience of winter tour in Tibet. She told that her hotel welcomed 920 tourists during the Spring, a growth of 363 over the previous year.  

"Since the implementation of these preferential policies, on February, the occupancy rate of our hotel increases abut 25 percent compared with the same period last year," said Zhang Moli, a worker in a four-star hotel in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. 

Because of the growing number of tourists during winter, tourist vehicles and rooms in hotels were in short supply. Some workers engaged in tourism said they would prepare for the next "winter tours in Tibet".
