Tibet’s Chamdo facilitates tourism development

Chamdo, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, received about two million tourists in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 13.78 percent. The visitors brought 1.64 billion yuan in tourism revenue, a growth of 13.79 percent compared with the same period last year.

Chamdo has begun to build a "national all-region tourism demonstration zone" since the first half of 2017. Besides, Chamdo pays attention to the building of A-class scenic areas. 18 tourist attractions in Chamdo were recommended and evaluated as A-class scenic areas last year, of which the saline fields in Mangkam County was regarded as 5A-class scenic spot.

With an investment of 36.16 million yuan, the construction of nine tourists projects were carried out in 2017. The facilities related to tourism get an improvement.

Chamdo makes great efforts to create its own folk cultural tourism brand and develop tourism to benefit more farmers and herdsmen. It is expected to welcome 2.2 million tourists in 2018, which generates a total of 1.8 billion yuan in tourism revenue.
