Nyingchi’s Dro village, a national civilized village

Dro village of Nang County, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, won the title of "National Civilized Village" last year. It is the second administrative village of Nang County declaring national civilized village.

With rich tourism resources and convenient traffic, Dro village has made great efforts to integrate tourism resources, establishing a kind of agritainment with local characteristics. Dro village follows the path of "locally employment, upgrading of industries and adding value of agricultural products locally". The promotion of tourism industry also promotes the development of agriculture, boosting the local economy.

"Every autumn in recent years, this apple tree is heavy with fruit. When autumn comes, our village sees a large number of tourists who also like eating our apples. Only the apple tree can bring us over 1,000 yuan in revenue," said Lhamo, a local villager.

With the leading of 11 Communist Party of China (CPC) members, the first batch of family inns integrating catering, accommodation and entertainment has been built. Currently, the local agritainment could provide tourists with fresh fruits, the experience of feeding fowls and picking vegetables, and campfire parties, which has received over 2,960 visitors since the beginning of this year, generating almost 90,000 yuan in revenue. The tourist reception center of Dro village is under construction.

In recent years, Dro village has persevered in the adding value of agricultural products by tourism, actively exploring the development model of courtyard economy. So far, 900 mu (60 hectares) of walnut trees, 150 mu (10 hectares) of apple trees, 100 mu (about 6.67 hectares) of peach trees and 110 mu (about 7.3 hectares) of interplanting have been planted, bringing per household more than 20,000 yuan in income. The village makes great efforts to develop plantation with local features, forming a scale-up planting mode, which improves the environment and increases the local income.

In addition, during the period of Tibetan New Year and other folk festivals, a various of activities organized by local farmers and herdsmen enliven people's cultural life and promotes the harmony.

Dro village will intensify efforts on promoting tourism, courtyard economy, agricultural products with local characteristics and transportation, increasing the local income.
