On August 28, the 2018 Yamdrok Lake Cycling Open Tournament, which was hosted by the People's Government of Shannan City and the Tourism Development Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, and jointly organized by the Tourism Development Committee of Shannan City, the People's Government of Ngarzhag County and the People's Government of Gonggar County, was kicked off.
102 cyclists from China's 16 provinces (autonomous regions) including Tibet, Sichuan, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan and so on take part in the tournament, which is an amateur competition. With an average altitude of 4,400 meters, cyclists will spend three days to complete the loop line around Yamdrok Lake. The daily cycling distance is 50 km, 65 km and 49 km respectively, and award ceremony will be held in each of the 3 stages. Besides, the closing ceremony and the entire award ceremony will be held on August 30.
