Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has made significant progress in ecological civilization since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Bhuttotso Lake is the collective name for the two mountain lakes of Bhuttotsoqin and Bhuttotsoqiong, about 25 km north of Tengchen County. They are two juxtaposed mountain lakes in the upper reaches of the Sechu River, also tributaries of the Lancang River, and 4,560 m to 4,600 m above sea level.
There is a vast natural pasture on the bank of Bhuttotso Lake. Plentiful water and abundant rainfall provides good condition for the development of animal husbandry.
The lake freezes over every November and begins to melt in April the next year. It is home to lots of wild birds, over 300 species of higher plants and 194 species of wild vertebrates.
