Mangkang county set up a leading group of intangible cultural heritage inheritance and protection, which is specifically responsible for the protection of intangible cultural heritages. Besides, professional workers are actively organized to explore the new forms of traditional culture.

In addition, several census activities are carried out, collecting more than 30 clues of intangible cultural heritage resources. More than 100 folk artists are interviewed and investigated. Over 40 folk stories, myths and legends are collected. Over 100,000 words of folk proverbs are collected. Training courses for various intangible cultural heritage talents are held for 10 sessions.

Through actively raising special subsidies from the central government and special protection funds from Qamdo City, Markam County vigorously holds a series of activities including exhibition, performance, and shows. On the basis of preserving records by means of words, pictures, images and so on, intangible cultural activities and mass cultural life are combined. A number of excellent traditional folk songs and dances with artistic value are effectively inherited while enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the masses.
