Shannan City, one of the cradles and birthplaces of the brilliant Xizang culture, was anciently known as "Yarlung". The Yarlung culture is also one of the important origins of Xizang culture. After September, decreasing precipitation makes snow-capped peaks and glaciers often clearly visible and the green slopes remain vibrant, thus the scenery is never monotonous.
