The melodies of Milarepa’s ancient Tibetan ballads performed by Phalo Rinpoche, the Monpa tunes sung by Yangjimma, and the monastery music deciphered by Gendun Phelgye — these diverse strands of intangible cultural heritage converge at Jebumgang Art Center. The special exhibition "Sacred Spaces and Mountain Groves: The Soundscape of Xizang’s Intangible Cultural Heritage" uses sound as a medium, bringing thousand-year-old acoustic traditions to life within a century-old architectural setting, and reinterpreting ancient heritage for a contemporary audience.
