The 3rd Tour de Basum Lake Cycling Race will kick off on Apr. 29 at Basum Lake, Nyingchi Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, according to Tibet’s Outdoor Sport Association recently.
The course is 99 km long and will last for two days. The first day is from the gate of Basum Lake to Gyerba Village and the second day is from Gyerba Village to the finishing line. The racing course includes highway, sandstone section, grassland, forest and so on.
With an average altitude of 3600 meters, the racing is challenging to physical power. In addition, the scenery along the lake is very charming which attracts a large number of cycling enthusiasts to take part in the racing.
With an area of over 6000 mu and an average altitude of 3600 meters, Basum Lake is located in the deep valley in Gongbujiangda County. In 2000, it is rated as the national 4A scenic spot.
