An emergency video conference was held on the evening of April 25 in Lhasa to prepare emergency relief materials and send the supplies to quake-hit areas in Tibet soon, and Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Chen Quanguo chaired the conference.
Death toll in Nepal climbed to 1805 and 4718 were injured in the earthquake, which jolted large parts of Nepal as well as eastern India and Bangladesh on Saturday.
Some counties in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region were also affected by the strong earthquake.
The 8.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday has killed 17 people and injured 53, disappeared 4 people in Tibet, southwest China, local authorities said.
A rescue team organized by Tibet Autonomous Region left for quake-hit areas late Saturday to help with relief work in Nyalam, Gyirong, Dingri and other counties in Tibet after the 8.1- magnitude earthquake earlier Saturday in Nepal, according to the conference.
Tibet government follows closely the developments of the earthquake in quake-hit areas in Shigatse, Ngari and other prefectures in Tibet Autonomous Region and conveys great concern and sympathy to the people in these quake-hit areas.
Preserving safety of people's lives and property and ensuring the smooth progress of the earthquake relief work, Tibet government has issued a level-Ⅱ emergency response to the earthquake in Tibet.
