The 8.1-magnititude earthquake in Nepal on April 25 also affected southwestern China's Tibet, especially Shigatse City's Nyalam County, Gyirong County and Tingri County.

The CPC Central Committee and State Council attached great importance to the earthquake relief work and made important instructions for many times. To reflect the central government's care to the grass-roots party organizations and party members in quake-hit Tibetan areas, the Central Organization Department decided to allocate 5 million yuan RMB party membership dues on May 2. The dues will be used to reconstruct the activity places, repair modern distance education facilities and subsidize affected party members.

At the same time, the Central Organization Department also expressed sincere solicitude to grass-roots party organizations and party members that worked on the quake relief frontlines. Party organizations at all levels are required to give full play to the role as the core leadership and fighting bastion. Party members should play their vanguard and exemplary roles. By enhancing their awareness of the importance of the masses and changing the work style, party members should go to the seriously quake-hit areas to meet the masses' needs. During the period of quake relief and post quake reconstruction, party organizations should pay attention to cadres’ examination and recognition work. Advanced models should be publicized and commended.
