2566 quake-affected monks and nuns properly resettled

The “4·25” earthquake damaged 242 temples at different degrees in Shigatse City’s Nyalam County, Gyirong County and Tingri County. With the concern of Central Committee of CPC and the State Council and under the high attention of party committee and government of Tibet Autonomous Region, the religious policy is fully implemented among quake-affected monks and nuns. With the care for and help of all sectors of society, issues such as monks and nuns’ resettlement, temple relics’ protection are included in the important schedule of quake relief work.

At present, quake-affected people in Shigatse City have all been properly resettled. 40 monks and nuns in 3 temples in Zham Town, Nyalam County are resettled in Samdrupzi District and Lhatse  County. The rest monks and nuns are resettled in security zones around the temples. The food, clothing and accommodation and other aspects are all ensured.

To ensure that temple relics are effectively protected, by cooperating with political-legal departments, cultural relics departments and other relevant departments, Nyalam, Gyirong and Tingri County’s religious departments and temple management institutions positively take relative measures.

Under the unified arrangement of local government, party committee and religious departments, temporary religious activity points are set up at settlements to ensure normal religious activities.
