A survey named Tibet biological image survey (TBIS), focusing on the distribution, habitat and population of wildlife in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has recorded 159 wild lives in areas of Mt. Gang Rinpoche and Lake Manasarovar, according to Luo Hao, one of the founders of the TBIS team.
Among the 159 kinds of wild lives, newly discovered birds cuculus saturates and phylloscopus griseolus havereplenished Tibet’s record on birds; a very close contact toward a lynx group has shown sufficient food resource around the holy mountain and lake area; the first image record of wild scincella ladacensis in our country and 3 endangered kinds of parnassius named parnassius charltonius, parnassius hardwickiip and arnassius epaphus are significantly meaningful at the study of life evolution on highland.
2 plants named potamogeton pamiricus and delphinium pulanense are only found in Nagri of China’s Tibet have been taken image records as well, which will provide vivid and specific reference for future study.
Being different from traditional investigations on biodiversity background, the TBIS’ most important feature is basing on real and wild image record. Each photo or video is corresponding with one specific species, which has increased the difficulty of survey but more genuine and believable. It is believed that the TBIS result will play an irreplaceable role in the reasonable exploitation and utilization of natural resource in Mt. Gang Rinpoche and Lake Manasarovar areas.
