Tibet University releases ptychobarbus dipogon fry

Located in Nyingchi City of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry is a branch campus of Tibet University in Lhasa City. A few days ago, students and teachers of the collage have released 3 million pieces of 3cm long ptychobarbus dipogon fry into the junction area of the Yarlung Zangbo River and Nyang River. 10 people from Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau of Nyingchi City, Scientific Research Office and Ecologic Institute of the collage, as well as other sections of the collage have taken part in the release activity.

For purpose of replenish and restore wild group of ptychobarbus dipogon resource in the Yarlung Zangbo River and ensure sustainable utilization of Tibet’s water resource, the National Ministry of Agriculture has required the ptychobarbus dipogon breeding and releasing job being done each year in the region. It is believed that the population structure of ptychobarbus dipogon can be improved after its number being increased through persistence on this job. Thus a positive effect on fish germplasm resources protection can be achieved as well.
