Recent days, the first Tibetan Opera Amateur Training Course is opened at the Tibet Public Art Center, also called the Intangible Cultural Heritage Center in Lhasa City, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. In just a few days of application, more than 70 Tibetan opera enthusiasts consisting of high school and college students, aiding Tibet cadras, civil servants, retired cadres and other Tibetan opera fans have signed up for this free training. According to the running schedule, they are going to receive training courses on the basic singing of traditional Tibetan opera.
Migmar, director of the Art Center has introduced that Pasang and Phurjung, 2 regional first-level actors from the Tibetan Opera Troupe of T.A.R. with rich experience on performing and teaching are hired to give lectures on female and male voice singing respectively. They are also visiting professors from the Tibet University as well as members of the expert committee on Tibetan intangible cultural heritage. Aiming to build a professional training platform for local amateurs during their off-work time, the course has been arranged at 19:00 -20:30 from every Monday to Thursday. “Relevant contests will be held, in order to improve the trainees' participation.” Migmar said.
