Aba, Jul. 15 (China Tibet Online) The four-day charity activity to southwest China's Sichuan's Barkam County kicked off on Jul.8, for the 2015 "Chinese Heart Project" in Aba Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. A total 110 medical expert volunteers from around the country participated in this activity.
In recent years, the Barkam county has prioritized health care, mobilized social forces, and increased investment, which has strengthened the publish health system.
Zhang Peiyun, county party secretary of Barkam, said at the launching ceremony that "the large scale charity project is a significant event for the County".
Volunteers were medical professionals in various departments such as respiratory health, cardiovascular health, cerebrovascular diseases, gynecology and obstetrics, traditional Chinese medicine, surgery, pediatrics, rheumatism and autoimmune disease, and various others. Among them over 90 were form Beijing and 20 experts from other provinces or municipalities.
Doctors gave free and tour clinical diagnosis, made donations, held lectures. Children were screened for congenital heart disease and cerebral palsy was also offered medical aid. These activities helped increase the standard of health care in the local area.
Following the "Chinese Heart" opening ceremony, the Barkam County People's Hospital established a new rheumatism department with the assistance of the Organizing Committee. This department will also receive special technical assistance from the rheumatism department of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University.
This activity was coordinated by the United Front Work Department of the CPC and received strong support from the Beijing Red Cross Foundation, the activity's Organizing Committee, as well as other domestic enterprises.
