High-end tourism unveiled in Changtang Nature Reserve

Recently, one travel agent named “GuangZhilv” (GZL) will cooperate with WCS ( Wildlife Conservation Society ) that is the only one organization in Tibet working jointly with the local government for wildlife protection. GZL is the exclusive travel agent in Guangzhou, which has the tour for theChangtang Nature Reserve. It is only available for 15 people.

With an average altitude of more than 5,000 meters, Changtang Nature Reserve is the state-level conservation. It has an area of 298,000 square km and is a habitat for wild animals on the state protection list, including Tibetan antelopes, donkeys, yaks and snow leopards.

It is reported that this high-end special tourism which costs 39,999 RMB will set up on the 1st of Aug. This 10-day trip is a sort of brand-new travel style with outdoors camping and scientific expedition. All control areas during this trip are access to the government approval. The GZL is the only agent can be admitted to this region.

With an annual growth rate of 30 percent, the number of tourists for Tibet reaches 7,000 in 2004, an increase of 50%. This traveling will explore the original nature of Changtang in different ways such as SUV and hiking.

The vice-general manager of GZL introduced the most significance of this trip is that the tourists are not only volunteers but also with specialists for wildlife protection to explore and observe the animals into the heartland of the Changtang Nature Reserve, and help scientists record the wildlife’s number, measure the grass plots and water quality.
