Publishing industry supports Tibet by invigorating Tibetan culture

July 27, the first publishing industry seminar on aiding Tibet was held in Lhasa, which was jointly organized by the Chinese Publishing Association, the Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region and the Publishers’ Association of Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.

The seminar is themed with “advancing effective landing of the news publishing system’s aiding Tibet project”. It aims at “further implementing the strategic deployment of the news, publishing and broadcasting system’s targeted aiding Tibet work conference and the spirit of 2015 nationwide reading notice”. Taking “promoting nationwide reading” as the breakthrough point in Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, it aims to deeply explore multichannel and wide field aiding Tibet model and build a new platform for the communication and cooperation between mainland China and the Tibet publishing industry, pushing the news publishing system’s aiding Tibet work to a new level.

It is reported that at the publishing industry seminar on aiding Tibet and book exhibition, a total of 68 publishing agencies have participated in the donation. Nearly 6.8 million books are donated which equals about 3 million dollars, and the intended copyrights donation amounts to more than 280 million yuan. More than 5 million donation projects have been implemented or are being implemented through this activity. Donated books and cashes will also be promptly sent to their corresponding aidreceiving entities in a period of time. Some of donated books will be put in a newly built open reading room for the masses to read for free.

More than 70 representatives from more than 50 publishing entities all over the country participated in the conference. Representatives from mainland as well as Tibet spoke at the conference.
