It is informed by the 2015 Shoton Festival Press Conference that this year’s festivity themed as “Beautiful Homeland, Happy Lhasa”, will kick off from Aug.14 to 20.

This year’s Shoton Festival, following the principle of safety, thrifty, normativity and serving to people, is going to carry out 9 activities in 8 items. According to Wu Songya, the press secretary and the deputy mayor of Lhasa, 2015 Shoton Festival opening ceremony will be held on the evening of Aug.14 in the Basket Court of Central Sport Stadium, Lhasa. During that period,the traditional Tibetan Opera, Tibetan music and dance will be performed, displaying the fruitful achievement in Lhasa’s protection and inheritance on traditional Tibetan culture. Meanwhile, in addition to the annual Buddha unfolding ceremony in Drepung and Sera Monastery, there will be Tibetan opera shows, the fifth Tibet Thangka Expo, the second Tibetan music seminar, International Namtso Lake Trekking, the “Lottery Cup” soccer championships and “Pure Land Green Project” Trade Fair.
