2014 Nagqu Prefecture output value totaled 8.3 bln RMB

It is reported from the press congress held by the Information Office of the TAR (Tibet Autonomous Region) government that Nagqu Prefecture has achieved brilliant achievement since the establishment of the TAR in 1965.

According to Liu Quan, member of Nagqu Prefectural Committee and the deputy commissioner of Nagqu Prefectural Administrative Office, over the past five decades, the undertakings in Nagqu were being pushed forward steadily. In 2014, its total output value reached 8.3 billion Yuan, an increase of 29 times over that of 1990.The fixed-asset investment’s growth slide to 9.3 billion Yuan from 547 thousand Yuan in 1964. Local budget revenue increased to 429 million Yuan from 5.04 million Yuan in 1964.

Over the past five decades, Nagqu Prefecture has witnessed the improvement of infrastructure construction focusing on the traffic, energy and water utilities. Firstly, until the end of 2014, traffic in Nagqu Prefecture went through from north to south, such as Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Qinghai-Tibet highway and Heihe-Qamdo highway, with 20862 kilometers. Secondly, the siting of Nagqu airport has already been approved. Besides, there are 8 counties in Nagqu being covered by the grid. Safe drinking water coverage reached 70% in agriculture and pastoral area. In addition, the administrative villages had 100% coverage in telecommunication.

Over the past five decades, Nagqu’s rural and urban appearance has already taken a brand-new look. At the present, the state has invested 1.2 billion Yuan in Nagqu County for central heating, water supply and drainage and sewage disposal which are being carried forward steadily. Besides, recently, there are 22 central towns in Nagqu being in comprehensive planning and construction. For that, their functions, images and grade have enjoyed a large rise.

Over the past five decades, the social causes including education, health, culture, social safeguard and social assistance and poverty aiding have witnessed great progress. Taking the education for example, 234 schools at different levels were built in Nagqu with 93 thousand students and 6109 faculty at schools, covering preschool education, compulsory education, vacation schools and special education.

Over the past five decades, with the reform and opening up, people’s living standard has improved. The per capita net income in Nagqu increased to 7234 Yuan in 2014 from 154.79 Yuan in 1979, an increase of almost 46 times. In addition, retail sales rose by 64 times to 1.6 billion Yuan. Moreover, since the implement of housing project for low-income families, there are 85 thousand households, with 41 thousand famers and herdsmen, living in spacious, bright, safe and comfortable houses, marking a historic leaps and bounds from the nomad to resident.

Over the past five decades, thanks for the rapid development of non-public economy, the efforts to attract foreign investment intensified increasingly. There are already 11208 market participants in various fields, with the registered fund of 2.8 billion Yuan. 2014 has witnessed 28 investment agreements signed with companies from inside and outside of Nagqu Prefecture and 47.4 billion investment of intention, in which 5 investment projects have already been done, totaling 225 million Yuan.

Over the past five decades, Nagqu put in place the most demanding eco-protecting system that built the national ecological security barrier in north Tibet’s pasture area. For example, 17 nature reserves, one international wet land and 2 national experimental wetland parks already been built, with 1.9 billion of cashing-out fund for rewards in protecting grassland.

Over the past five decades, aiding-Tibet works have achieved fruitful. Especially, in 1994, with the fundamental strategic decision of partner assistance at the third state forum on work of TAR, 742 excellent carders in 7 batches from Zhe Jiang Province, Liao Ning Province and 5 state-owned companies such as PetroChina were assigned to Nagqu Prefecture, with a total investment of 4.7 billion Yuan in aiding Tibet. Moreover, there are 1124 aiding-Tibet projects having been implemented, which promoted the Nagqu’s scientific development and injected strong impetus into the improvement of people’s livelihood.
